EDUCATION
DOCTORAL CANDIDATE, GEOCHEMISTRY, DEPARTMENT OF EARTH SCIENCES, ETH ZÜRICH
2014 - present
Thesis research with Derek Vance entitled:
Quantifying and understanding the particulate riverine input of metals and their isotopes to the Oceans
Organise and execute trace-metal clean field sampling campaigns to the Kalix and Amazon Rivers
Development of on-board, sample enrichment procedures via cross-flow filtration to ensure enough analyte would be present in the particulate, colloidal, traditionally dissolved, and ultra-filtered size fractions for isotopic analysis of transition metals (Fe, Zn, Cu, Mo, Ni)
Investigate partitioning of these metals and their isotopes between the above mentioned phases
Development of analytical procedures for selective chemical extraction of these metals and their isotopes from the particulate phase
Development of new column separation techniques for Mo and Ni
Development of analytical techniques for analysing seawater-river water mixtures for the transition metals and their isotopes
Investigate (re)mobilisation of these metals and their isotopes in estuarine environments
M.SCI. MARINE CHEMISTRY, UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA

Chemical leaching methods and measurements of marine labile particulate [Fe] and δ56Fe
Investigate particulate (de)sorption of iron and its isotopes by marine particulate phases
Investigate possible Fe isotopic fractionations induced by chemical extraction procedures
Develop chemical extraction procedures for bioavailable iron isotopes from marine particulates
Analyse the entire GEOTRACES North Atlantic transect for particulate bioavailable iron and its isotopes
